History

fordleigh farm barn

Fordleigh Farm enjoys a long, rich history. Founded in 1832 by the Ford's when they moved over from Scotland, the farm has been transferred father to son for 5 generations. Originally established as a dairy farm, the family lived in a log cabin on the farm until the main house was built in 1857. In order to ensure quality, the house was built by a stone mason brought over from Scotland specifically to build the house. The current barn was built in 1913 on the location of the original barn. The farm was originally named Pinegrove Farms, but in 1955 the name was changed to accommodate the registration of their Holstein Cattle. In 1998 the farm sold its last remaining cattle, and changed from a dairy farm to a cash crop farm. Currently growing corn, soya beans, and wheat, our 100 acre farm includes 20 acres of bush with trails to offer you jogging, walking, and cross country skiing adventures.

This year, 2007, is the 175th year Anniversary for the Ford family on this farm. Come celebrate with us & enjoy the many tales from our family history!
